High profile PNG athlete Dika Toua and Chairman of the Olympics Committee Sir John Dawanincura today tried out the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine of the Pacific International Hospital to pave way for all other athletes to this service.
According to Sir John Davanincura the deal came about as an exercise to know fees of the new services and the processes to go through to get check-ups and treatment using the state of the art medical facilities available at the PIH.
He said this scan is significant because it will help to identify the status of the soft tissues and bones of the athletes before they can go in for final selection and lineups.
Sir Davanincura said this exercise is part of the Olympics committee risks management before and during the games in July.
According to PIH Senior Manager Business Development and Public Relations this service is an expensive one but the hospital is giving certain discount to the PNG athletes.
