OC PRESENTED REPORT TO SPEAKER OF PARLIAMENT 30 Mar 2015
A final investigation report by the Ombudsman Commission into the Department of Lands and Physical Planning has been presented to the Speaker of Parliament on the 19th of this month.
In a press statement the Ombudsman Commission says, the report is focused on establishing whether the report on administrative systems, processes and procedures and the legislation governing the work of the department is followed when it issued State lease (Mission lease) over section 283 Allotment 48, Hohola (Morata) in the National Capital District.
The investigation was conducted pursuant to Section 219 sub section 1a (ii) of the Constitution which empowers the Ombudsman Commission to investigate at its own initiative or on complaint by a person affected by the conduct on the part of any government body or an officer or an employee of a government body.
Meantime, Ombudsman Commission says the Speaker is required under Section 23 sub section 1d on the Organic Law on the Ombudsman Commission (Organic Law) to present the report to Parliament within eight sitting days of the Parliament.
However it is the discretion of the recipients of this report or those overseeing the functions of the Department of Lands and Physical Planning to implement those recommendations.
