KONDRA CALLS ON FLY RIVER PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT TO SHARE 33% EQUITY EVENLY 08 Jan 2015
North Fly MP and Minister for Culture and Tourism Boka Kondra said locals living along the tributaries and at the outlet of Fly River into West Papua have not been paid for damages since the Ok Tedi Mine started production. Minister Kondra called on the Fly River Provincial Government to properly consult all stakeholders this time and share the 33% Equity evenly. Border treaties, social mapping and processes needs to be looked at properly, and a new agreement must be considered as an option he said. Minister Kondra further appealed to Fly River Provincial Government to distribute 33% Equity fairly and also include the locals affected in the West Papuan Community. Meanwhile, he says there is a strong need for further dialogue between parties involved.
