Partnership Program Benefits Universities 29 Dec 2014
The Partnership program between PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum and Australia Aid has achieved the overall aimed at improving the quality of graduate training in two major universities in the country. The program which was designed to greatly improve the overall welfare and morale of staff and students at the University of Technology through the Department of Mining and Engineering (DME) and University of PNG through the Earth Science Division (ESD) has lead to an enhanced teaching environment and better quality learning. Through this partnership, Australian Aid provided a grant valued at AUC 495,000 for each faculty and the Chamber provided project design, management and administration. The broad aim of this program was to boost the capability and resources of the Department of Mining and Engineering and Earth Sciences Division by lifting the quality of learning and commencing the necessary reform process to ensure the faculties are equipped to provide high quality graduated required by the industry in both PNG and the Pacific region.
