By Dorah Gawi
The Papua New Guinea resource sector will undergo a major review of its resource sector taxes and charges in 2013.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neil says whilst reviewing our resource sector taxes, the Government will consult widely on taxation reform, which will look at the existing taxes on small to medium enterprises and consider what incentives and concessions, might be given to encouraging strategic investment in areas that are critical to driving our economic growth.
Mr. O’Neil says these areas include import replacement industry, training and tourism amongst others.
He says the Government will be proactive in helping deliver improved training and skilling programs that our small to medium business sector can participate in.
Mr. O’Neil says training will be expensive for the private sector, however, the Government is willing to assist finance these programs that can lift the capacity and skill of our own people. fausse montre
